Our ECO team is dedicated to supporting Camden’s communities to live sustainably and contribute to ecological transformation. In partnership with Camden Council, we plan and deliver outreach activities to support community groups and schools. We also welcome local applications to the Veolia Sustainability Fund and Veolia Orchard.

 

 

Education

Our team is passionate about helping young people understand the importance of waste reduction and recycling and links between waste and climate change. From interactive assemblies, workshops and competition to litter picks, we are here to support the next generation to become environmental champions! 

Veolia Orchard

In 2022, Veolia Camden helped launch the Veolia Orchard programme to provide schools with fruit trees or plants.The programme aims to improve the wellbeing of young people and nurture their skills to create a positive change to their environment.

Community Events

There is a strong sense of community in Camden with many active groups driving change across the borough. The ECO team is well positioned to support local groups by attending community events to promote recycling and sustainability.

We work with Camden Council to support safe community litter picks. We are able to provide Camden based residents and groups with litter picks and bags for their clean up events.

Veolia Sustainability Fund

The ECO team supports the delivery of Sustainability Fund projects in Camden.

Here are some highlights from projects we have supported:

• Camden ECO Champion Awards were created by the Camden Clean Air Initiative to recognise and celebrate those who go above and beyond to protect the environment. Veolia funding supported the prize ceremony in 2022.
• Eleanor Palmer Primary School’s space for SEN pupils includes a sensory room and quiet intervention space. Veolia funding contributed to the construction of the project and some planters.
• Dartmouth Park Neighbourhood Forum cleared overgrown tree pits in Highgate and planted bulbs. Veolia funding helped this community project green their local environment. 
• Think and Do's Energy Saving Club delivers in-person advice on saving energy as well free energy-saving devices (such as LED bulbs, tap aerators, standby plugs, draft excluders and shower timers). Veolia funding enabled Think & Do to support more families.
• Kilburn Community Garden expanded their green space by creating new raised beds, planting flowers. They also started a seed and book exchange. Veolia funding was used to buy compost and build the planters.
